Recommendations
Provide design features as well as documentation and training resources to ensure that the building personnel are able to operate and maintain the building according to its design intent throughout its useful life. This includes:
- designing the building and systems to provide easy access to all components requiring maintenance and/or cleaning;
- providing information in manuals about the operation of equipment (including HVAC system), enclosure, ground maintenance, and pollution control in all operational modes of the building;
- providing "as build" plans for building and equipment;
- providing appropriate labels for HVAC components;
- providing training for operation, maintenance, and cleaning staff; and
- providing information for future tenants and occupants outlining design intent and associated restrictions on use and occupancy.
